From the initial design stages, the architect was also thinking about the lighting effects of lanterns for the building's exterior. Conventional commercialism always lights up finished building with numerous floodlights. In the midst of this transitional period, Takashimaya avoided trendy lighting, choosing instead sustainable building lighting.
