Alibaba Central China Headquarters 2024

Located in Xudong, the central commercial district of Wuchang, Wuhan, this building serves as Alibaba’s Central China headquarters. The architecture draws inspiration from a traditional Chinese puzzle, Kongming Lock, forming a three-dimensional geometric structure where box-shaped corridors intersect with rectangular blocks. By selecting two color temperatures, gold and silver, to illuminate the height variations of this geometrical structure, the lighting design aims to integrate Alibaba’s digital technology and corporate culture. At night, the design expresses the concept of “illumination of the digital economy.”
