Obihiro City in Hokkaido freezes with below zero temperatures during the winter season. The idea of creating a characteristic nightscape for this redeveloped area was proposed by spirited local citizens. The disciplines of urban planning, landscape design and lighting design formed a design team to provide an inclusive solution to the city. staring with an environmental lighting study, we proposed an infrastructure of light. The result is an area with an urban axis and a plaza with artistic use of light.
