As Managing Director of LPA Singapore Office and a Director of the Tokyo Office, Reiko Kasai plays a key role in the firm’s management, business strategy, and international development. She joined the Tokyo Office in 1995, working in planning and public relations. Through the Lighting Detectives initiative, she organized nonprofit activities promoting public awareness of lighting culture, including forums, exhibitions, workshops, and publications. In late 2000, she relocated to Singapore, where she helped establish and expand LPA’s presence across Asia. She continues to oversee the Singapore office while contributing to the firm’s strategic development and international collaborations. Her musical background and years spent studying and living in the United States and Europe have shaped her distinctive perspective on light, space, culture, and the urban environment. Her leadership has contributed to LPA’s international growth and helped connect its design practice with broader discussions on architecture, urbanism, culture, and public space. Alongside her role at LPA, she writes for numerous Japanese publications on architecture, design, art, culture, and lifestyle in tropical Asia.
